OVERVIEW
The Seaford Sports and Social Club was established in 1974 and is situated on Norseman Street Port Noarlunga South. The Club has been established as both a social and sporting complex offering licensed facilities and sporting activities to the Seaford community. Its major sporting focus is associated with the sport of football (soccer). The Club is open every night of the week and is well patronised.
The Club has in excess of 150 members with the majority of the Club membership associated through their involvement with the football teams that the Club fields, 2008 sees the first women’s team at the club.
These soccer teams are affiliated with both the Saturday State League run by the Football Federation South Australia (FFSA) and the Sunday Amateur League run by the South Australian Amateur Soccer League. The Club also has junior teams that play in the Sunday Junior competition again run by the FFSA.
The Club provides excellent facilities for the community and through its activities and sporting opportunities it caters for all levels of soccer ability and social interest. The Club has a social committee that offers such activities as quiz nights, race nights, themed dinners and seasonal events, eg Christmas. The Club facilities are hired out for private functions to members.
Over the past 18 months, considerable time and money has been invested into improving the Club facilities with some of this funding being through Onkaparinga Council support and the rest generated through Club fundraising and committee support. As such there have been significant improvements in the building, oval and catering areas and the Club has been given quite a makeover to the current state where it is an excellent community facility for sporting and social events.
